Our Purpose

The purpose of Yummies is to create a space where mothers can meet and get information on everything from fashion to food and even health tips to keep you informed. We aim to make Yummies a space where you can laugh, cry, and also be inspired. You are not in this alone and we are here to help you through the best days and even the occasional bad days. We are in this together, sisters in motherhood.

Di’Ana Enjoli Anderson

Founder & Editorial Director

Di’Ana E. Anderson is the mother of one son, Lerenz Elias (6 yrs old). She currently works as an Analytics and Marketing Coordinator for Essential Elements Chicago, Web Services. She holds a dual  MBA from Saint Xavier University in Marketing & Internet/Social Media Marketing. She obtained her B.S. from the University of Illinois in Advertising. She worked as a Merchandising Marketing Manager before moving over to the web services role. She has a love for the arts & crafts, always working on a creative project. Writing is her thing so she keeps at least 2 journals in her bag at all times.


Takara Lynette Akins

Founder & Creative Director

Takara L. Akins is a mother of one daughter, London Dai (6yrs old). She currently works as an assistant property manager. She graduated from Illnois State University with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism. Her passion for news and entertainment led her to work for BET and WVON before her current position. Takara is Ms. Betty Crocker! She loves to cook new dishes and is always ready to bake a sweet treat. Her knack for finding great recipes is amazing. She even has a cook book entitled, “Zumba Lover’s Cook Book.”



Jennifer Denise Edwards

Health Editor

Jennifer D. Edwards is a mother of one son, Jaylon Darryl (8 yrs old). She currently works as a medical administrative assistant at Pain Treatment Centers of Illinois. She graduated  from Sanford-Brown College with a AAS in medical administrative assistant. She also a board certified radiography technician (ARRT).  Her passion for caring for others began as a child, watching her mother practice as registered nurse. She has worked in various aspect of the medical field including pediatrics, geriatrics, primary care, orthopedics and pain management.
