Skin Maintenance: MUD MASKS

If you are like me, then you may also have a few issues with your skin. Although, I am into my 30’s, thanks to genetics ( and probably my diet) I still suffer from acne. In addition, I also have oily skin. Ugh! I’m tired of using foundation and concealer to cover my imperfections, which typically results in my face breaking out even more. So what is a girl to do?

Try something new of course! My co-worker loves a good sale, especially at Walgreens, on hair or body products. She convinced me to invest in $5 (regularly $14.99) on Shea Moisture’s Coconut & Hibiscus Radiance Mud Mask.

This purifying mud mask absorbs impurities and removes dead skin cells that can dull the skin. A very unique blend of Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Hibiscus Flower, and Songyi Mushroom extract all work together magnificently to brighten, soften, and deeply nourish the skin.

Why it work:

  • Coconut Oil- nourishes & moisturizes skin with Vitamins E & K, iron, & fatty acids
  • Hibiscus Flower- a natural emollient that treats dry skin, rough skin, and improves overall skin tone
  • Shea Butter- provides nourishment and protection for the skin
  • Songyi Mushroom- helps increase the radiance of the skin

How to use it:

  • Apply a thin layer with fingertips
  • Ensure face is clean and dry
  • Leave on for 10 minutes
  • Wipe clean with a damp cloth
  • Use ONCE a week

My experience:

I have only had the opportunity to use it once seeing that I just got it and you only need it once a week. I must admit when I initially put it on my skin felt like it was on FIRE!  I immediately wanted to scream and remove it! After a minute or so the pain subsided and it began to harden. That initial pain though is something I am not sure I want to endure again, especially after my co-worker said she only felt “tingling” while I on the other hand was in the pit of hell! I am going to try it again, since I have realized many others felt the burn too! However, knowing how sensitive my skin is, I plan to try another version Shea Moisture has, Peace Rose Oil Complex Sensitive Skin Mud Mask. Hopefully this one will be better to my skin. We shall see. Look out for my update in the near future.
